Asami Deco

This is my piece for the Legend of Korra art show, 'I'm the Art Show, Gotta Deal With it!' I adore Legend of Korra and when I first head about the show, I immediately signed up, then struggled for ages to come up with a good idea for a gallery piece. At first, I thought I'd do a sort of hero drawing with all of my favorite hero characters together (Korra, Lin, Asami, Jinora and Ikki), but then I started drawing parallels between Art Deco and the designs of the Sato mobiles, as well as the various Sato inventions. With Asami taking over her father's company in the new season, I thought it'd be fun to illustrate it how while still a Sato, she's different from her father.

The piece was drawn in Photoshop, then printed out on watercolor paper, painted with gouche and watercolors, and inked with Sharpie paint pens in gold metallic.

Hourly Comics Day 2013!

It was Hourly Comics Day yesterday! Originally I was going to do it due to a deadline, but after being encouraged (or pressured) by friends Tealin and Stuart Livingston, I did it! Most of these were drawn after 9PM yesterday, I jotted down little notes about what I was doing every hour before going back and drawing them on Post-Its with an HB pencil.

This is my holiday card for this year! It's a Frost Queen inspired by Jack Frost and Alexander McQueen and Marchessa gowns! Basically I just wanted to paint a pretty, fancy dress and make it glooow!

More Su-Buffs!

I love love LOVE these shorts and I want a full series, a comic book series and pretty much all the merchandise. It's always wonderful to see animated series that are meant for girls that don't involve princesses and frou frou nonsense, just good friends who band together to make the world a better place.

Womanthology: Space Issue 2 Out Today!

The piece above was one I submitted to IDW for use in the cover collage. I really like the way it came out, I’m not good at space ships or mechanical design but I’m pleased with this one. Also, the Voltron fight crew inspired uniforms were fun to draw and I managed to stick in a few references to the ‘Womanthology: Heroic’ story that I worked on! :D
